New LP - Deux - Decadence - You may remember Deux from the B.I.P.P.P. - French Synth Wave 1979 - 1985 comp of 2008 (our favorite compilation release from that year). Deux's cut "Game and Performance" was one of our favorite cuts on B.I.P.P.P. and it got spun at many a "Getting Drunk to Spin Records to Get Drunk To" DJ night (which may be making a comeback at a different venue soon, by the way). Anyhow, we recently discovered a good source for the Minimal Wave LP reissue by Deux and we're STOKED! Here's the label's descriptive write-up:
“Minimal Wave is proud to present a full length LP by French duo DEUX. GERARD PELLETIER and CATI TETE formed Deux after meeting in Lyon in 1981. Their music can be described as minimal synth with stripped down rhythm compositions and suitably cold duets. Their influences are a perfect blend of Kraftwerk and French synthpop. Between 1983 and 1992, they released a cassette and several rare singles. They also appeared on the various artists BIPP LP (2006) (sic) and most recently on The Minimal Wave Tapes: Vol 1 LP. The Decadence LP features selections of their old material, newly remastered. It is a hand-numbered edition, pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a heavy matte jacket.”
Minimal Wave is the authority on the genre. You can trust what they say. It's all true as you might've already imagined. This reissue is highly recommended.
